Azman Adnan appointed new Education DG


PETALING JAYA: Azman Adnan has been appointed as the new Education director-general effective Tuesday (Feb 20), the Education Ministry announced.

Azman, 55, who was previously the deputy director-general (School Operations Sector) replaces Datuk Pkharuddin Ghazali.

He has over 34 years’ experience in education beginning as a teacher, before being appointed as a senior subject teacher, evening supervisor, senior assistant of student affairs, senior administrative assistant, assistant director of the state education department and school principal, the ministry said in a statement.

He also has experience leading educational institutions at various levels including as Segamat district education officer, Johor state education deputy director and Johor state education director.

At the Education Ministry, Azman has experience as the Vocational Technical Education and Training Division director, Curriculum Development Division director and Daily School Management Division director.

He possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Malay Studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Principalship from Universiti Malaya.
