Bhubaneswar: Students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar have received 200 job offers in the first 10 days of placement drive. The campus placement drive started from December 1 will continue till July end next year.
One of the students received a Rs 64 lakh per annum (LPA) offer from a multi-national company. It is the highest LPA received by a student so far in IIT Bhubaneswar placement drive.“We will inform all details about the highest LPA after the end of the first phase of the placement drive on December 31,” said a placement officer of the institution.
In the first 10 days of the placements, official sources said, the institute saw many software, IT, consulting, and analytics companies participating and hiring students in good numbers. It is also focusing on inviting companies from diverse sectors to provide the students an opportunity to select as per their professional interests, said the official.
“Even though the global business scenario and the economy are dwindling due to economic slowdown and recession affecting the placements across the country, placements at IIT Bhubaneswar are quite encouraging and gaining momentum,” said Arun Kumar Pradhan, head of Career Development Cell of IIT Bhubaneswar.
This year, organisations like BPCL, HPCL, Reliance Industries, Oracle, Microsoft, Google, Accenture Japan, Salesforce and many other Fortune 500 companies are participating in the placement drive, providing the students a vast array of placement opportunities, said Pradhan.
Besides offers in the domestic market, IIT Bhubaneswar has so far bagged four international offers. Students of the computer science department have got maximum offers, said the official statement of the institution.
A student, Sai Giri Nandini Udathu, had received a job offer of an annual package of Rs 55 lakh during a placement drive last year. She was a BTech final year student from the computer science and engineering school of the national institute.
