The conclusion of Norma Percy’s Putin documentary

Pick of the day: Putin vs the West: At War

9pm, BBC Two

The concluding part of producer Norma Percy’s supremely well-sourced (an understatement, if anything) documentary – albeit, of course, not a conclusion to the war in Ukraine that is its subject matter. And as the world’s support for Ukraine starts to fray, Russian President Vladimir Putin works to build new alliances to undercut Western sanctions. Chief among these is Russia and China’s “no limits” alliance, while Volodymyr Zelensky heads to London and Washington to ask for more military hardware. According to former UK defence secretary Ben Wallace, for the sake of secrecy, whisky-themed code names were used by Ukraine.

Silent Witness

9pm, BBC One

ITV’s Trigger Point doesn’t have a monopoly on explosive storyline starts, and the latest double episode of the forensics long-runner begins with a shoot-out in the jungles of Myanmar and an attack by activists on a security conference in London. How are the two connected? Nikki (Emilia Fox) and the team become involved when the body of a Burmese man is found on a beach.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

9pm, Sky Comedy

“I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this “Larry David” persona and become the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character,” was the star’s tongue-in-cheek comment to introduce the final season of his much-loved comedy of cringe. Many of us will miss Larry David’s cheerfully cynical outlook on life as he now heads to Georgia to appear at the birthday party of a prominent businessman, having trouble with his glasses and facing off with a surly hotel cleaner.

Born From the Same Stranger

9pm, ITV1

Among Davina McCall’s caseload this week is Corinne, who discovers that the gynaecologist organising her conception back in 1959 used only a small number of donors to produce more than 300 children. Could she be one of multiple half-siblings born to the same donor? Meanwhile Sam and his half-sister Emma already know of 21 half-siblings who have been popping up on DNA databases.

To Catch a Copper

9pm, Channel 4

The “real Line of Duty” docuseries following Avon and Somerset Police’s professional standards department now focuses on cases where police officers are accused of institutional racism and unconscious bias. Two officers are called to an argument between a bus driver and a young black woman. When the situation escalates and video is shared online, the community demands answers. In another case, two officers stop and search a young black man, using physical force, but he is not found to be carrying anything illegal.

Katherine Ryan: Parental Guidance

9pm, W

Katherine Ryan was last year criticised for posting a photo of herself drinking wine while breastfeeding her baby Fenna Grace. The unapologetic comedian and mother of three now launches herself into the whole vexed subject of parenting. So, while she meets families with “out of the box” parenting methods, we also get a glimpse into her own parenting style – the comedian’s determination to keep working aided by stay-at-home dad Bobby and a nanny.
