The Star bags best print article prize at Agrobank media awards


PETALING JAYA: The Star won a top prize at the 2023-2024 Agrobank Media Awards on Wednesday (May 29) night.

The Star Education journalist Rebecca Grace Rajaendram, 35, took home the first prize for the Print Media and News Portal (Best Article) category for her article “Food For All”.

She received an RM5,000 cash prize and a trophy.

The event, held at Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel, was held to acknowledge the work of media employees who never stop reporting on the developments and achievements of the agricultural sector which plays an important role in the country’s food supply.

Second prize went to Utusan Malaysia journalist Badrul Hafizan Mat Isa and third prize went to Bernama journalist Muhammad Basir Roslan.

They took home RM3,000 and RM1,000, respectively, together with trophies.

The event also marked the first time Agrobank and the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) jointly organised the Agrobank Media Awards with six award categories.

Among them are the Print Media & News Portal Award for the Best News and the Best Article, the Online Video and Television Broadcasting Media Award for the Best News and Documentary, the Radio Media Award and the Agrobank Young Farmer Partner Agricultural Science and Technology Award.

Agrobank is the first banking company to organise a media award to appreciate the services and ideas of practitioners.

Also present were MPI chief executive officer Datuk Mustapa Omar, Agrobank president and CEO Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah, chief editors of media agencies and journalists.
