Crew Member Dies In Tragic On-Set Accident Of Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ Disney+ Series

A crew member on the set of Marvel’s Wonder Man died on Tuesday after suffering a fall from the rafters, per Deadline.

According to the outlet, the tragic accident took place at Radford Studios in Studio City, California, where the individual, who has yet to be identified, was working as a rigger. The show was not being shot at the time. Although filming initially started last April, production experienced delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and is scheduled to start back up in March.

The news was confirmed to Deadline by a spokesperson for Marvel, who said, “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.”

TMZ reports that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the accident.

Charles Miller, an LAPD spokesperson, told CNN that law enforcement responded to the studio’s address at about 6:55 a.m. PT. Miller also shared that there is no suspicion of foul play, and that an investigation is currently taking place.

According to Variety, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) president Mathew D. Loeb shared the following statement:

“Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues. Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. After resorting to getting help from Baron Zemo, a villain who grants him the power of extreme strength and tells him to betray the Avengers, he ends up joining forces with them, per People. The cast also features the talents of Demetrius Grosse and Ben Kingsley, per Collider.

The release date for the miniseries has yet to be announced, but will ultimately stream on Disney+.
