Man convicted of manslaughter in deadly 2019 Alabama nightclub shooting

A jury convicted a a man of manslaughter in the fatal 2019 shooting of a security guard at an Alabama nightclub, court records showed.

Emmanuel “Mannie” Key, 33, of Chancellor, in Geneva County, was found guilty Friday in connection with the death of Stevie Franklin.

Key, who was initially charged with murder, was found guilty of manslaughter by the Coffee County jury.

Trial testimony showed Franklin and other guards tried to remove a group of people from the club when a fight broke out and Key shot Franklin, WSFA reported.

A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled for Key, according to court records.
