Marvel Studios‘ WandaVision spinoff has undergone yet another name change, making this the third time the series has been renamed.
The brand new series, which is expected to arrive on Disney+ later this year, will now simply be called Agatha.
Originally announced as Agatha: House of Harkness, the series changed its name to Agatha: Coven of Chaos in July 2022. In September of 2023, the series was renamed to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
Now, the forthcoming series starring Kathryn Hahn seems to have done away with the subtitle according to MovieWeb.
In the WandaVision series, Hahn’s role as Agatha Harkness was an instant hit with fans, securing her several award nominations and a Billboard Chart hit.
The series was announced when Marvel planned to complete the Multiverse Saga by May 2026. Since then, the studio has dropped several planned projects, but Agatha has remained in production.
WandaVision, which starred Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, was released on Disney+ in 2021 and was the very first Marvel TV venture on the streaming platform.
Agatha is expected to pick up directly after the events of WandaVision, with Agatha breaking free from Wanda’s spell, only to find that she no longer has her powers. This sends her on a journey to rediscover her powers, crossing paths with characters played by Emma Caulfield, Isabelle Fuhrman, Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Sasheer Zamata, and Joe Locke.
Currently, there has been no indication that there will be any appearance from Olsen.
It has yet to be revealed whether the series will evolve into a franchise or if it will be a standalone spinoff project.
