Max Holloway adds mass vs. Justin Gaethje

[

LAS VEGAS – Max Holloway wasn’t joking when he said he fully embraced lightweight life going into his UFC 300 showdown with BMF champion Justin Gaethje.

Holloway, a former longtime featherweight champion, will return to lightweight for the first time in five years when he challenges Gaethje in the featured bout of UFC 300. “Blessed” only got six weeks’ notice last time he moved up in a competitive loss to Dustin Poirier, but this time it’s been different, because he had more time to adjust his body to a different division.

It showed on the scale at Friday’s official UFC 300 weigh-ins, with Holloway weighing in at 156 pounds and looking sharp in the process. Gaethje, who is always in shape and looks to defends his BMF belt for the first time, was 156, as well.

Given the BMF belt is not a true divisional title, both fighters were granted a one-pound allowance on the lightweight limit.
