New Delhi: At both higher education and professional levels, entrance examinations are conducted in India which must be cleared in order to take the next step; one of the competitive examinations is also for those who want to become doctors – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). While the NEET PG 2024 was preponed from July 7 to June 23, 2024 there are reports now that National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Super Specialty Courses (NEET SS 2024) may be cancelled this year, i.e. NEET SS 2024 may not be conducted this year. This information has been revealed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) as a response to a Right to Information (RTI) Application filed by Dr Vivek Pandey. NEET SS 2024 May NOT Be Conducted This Year?
As mentioned earlier, there are chances that the NEET SS 2024 Exam may not be conducted this year. According to the Minutes of Meeting of NMC, as shared by Dr Vivek Pandey, update on NEET SS 2024 was quoted as saying, “Regarding NEET SS 2024, it was decided that as admissions for academic year 2021 for MD/MS and DNB courses were held only in January to May 2022, therefore, NEET SS 2024 may not be conducted in the current year. However, exact date of conducting NEET SS 2024 in the year 2025 will b decided later.”
A complete schedule regarding the NEET SS 2024 has no yet been revealed and will be announced once decided. The participants in this meeting were Dr Vijay Oza, President of PGMEB; Prof M Bajpai, Hony Executive Director of NBEMS; Dr B Srinivas, DDG (ME), MCC and Secretary, NMC; Dr Rakesh Sharma OSD, NBEMS; Dr Vinay Gupta, Joint Director, NBEMS; Sh Aujender Singh, Deputy Secretary, PGMEB, NMC.
NEET PG 2024: Tentative Schedule
The meeting of the National Medical Commission was held under the Chairmanship of Dr Vijay Oza, President of PGMEB and the two main issues discussed were the ‘Examination and Counselling Schedule for NEET PG 2024’ and the ‘Pattern of Examination for NEET SS’.
