NEET UG 2024 Registration: With nearly 24 lakh registrations, the NEET UG 2024 applications for the academic year 2024-25 have seen a remarkable record number of registrations. Last year, the National Testing Agency(NTA) conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) for 2087462 candidates at 4097 different Centres located in 499 cities throughout the country including 14 cities outside India. Meanwhile, 18,72,343 students have registered for the medical entrance examination in 2022. The 2024 registration saw a significant increase in the number of registered students — nearly 3 lakhs — as compared with the NEET 2023 registration, marking the most substantial increase in seven years, as per reports.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) – 2024 on May 5, 2024 (Sunday), from 02:00 P.M. to 05:20 P.M. (Indian Standard Time). This examination will be conducted in Pen & Paper mode (offline) across various centers in India and abroad. Check year-wise data for the number of candidates registered below:-

As per Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the NEET (UG) has to be conducted as a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [(NEET (UG)] for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions. Similarly, as per Section 14 of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, there shall be a uniform NEET (UG) for admission to undergraduate courses in each of the disciplines i.e. BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS courses of the Indian System of Medicine in all Medical Institutions governed under this Act. NEET (UG) shall also be applicable to admission to BHMS course under National Commission for Homeopathy.
