Blues need five goals in five minutes
It’s no surprise Patrick Cripps is still doing all he can to will his team over the line. He has had another huge game, with 27 touches, and now a second goal. The Blues need five goals in five minutes to pinch this?
Here’s a replay of the 50m penalty
Holmes is where the heart is
‘A message to the rest of the competition’
Jack Bowes now bobs up, with a slick snap from about 48m. From six inside 50s in the final term, the Cats have booted 4.1. Bowes has a game-high 10 tackles.
“This is a message to the rest of the competition,” dual North Melbourne premiership player David King said of the Cats on Fox Footy.
Now it’s a game-high lead
Ollie Henry marks and drills his third of the evening, the Cats now enjoying a game-high 27-point lead. Are the Blues cooked? The Blues missed three-straight opportunities to start this term. The Cats have gone bang, bang, bang and bang since. If the Blues want to end their premiership drought, which extends to 1995, they cannot afford to miss so many shots at goal.
50m penalty leads to Cameron goal
Jeremy Cameron won a controversial 50m penalty on the wing after McKay was adjudged to have switched on being man on the mark. Cameron’s free kick was taken about 40m from goal, gifting Cameron a major which may have sunk the Blues for good. The Cats are up by 21 points.
A Tuohys or two, or three
Tuohy has had a blinder today, and now narrowly slips through his third goal of the evening, the Cats extending their lead to 14 points. Fox Footy coverage shows this goal came, in part, because Jacob Weitering opted to leave Hawkins and attempted to disrupt a handball/kick on the wing. He failed to stop the ball, and a string of free men emerged for the Cats, leading to Tuohy’s mark.
Another miss ….
We’re back, and the Blues’ poor kicking continues, this time Corey Durdin squandering a set shot. The Blues trail by nine points.
