Patna school timings revised for all classes up to 10th amid severe heatwave

Amid the severe heatwave conditions across various parts of Bihar, the district administration of Patna has changed the timings of schools from Saturday.
Several districts in Bihar experienced scorching heat on Saturday, with temperatures soaring past 42 degrees Celsius in at least 11 locations, according to the Meteorological Department. The department has issued a forecast predicting the intense heat to persist across various parts of the state in the coming days.
Sheikhpura district witnessed 44.1°C, the hottest temperature recorded in Bihar on Saturday.Aurangabad was not far behind at 43.7°C. Several other districts also reeled under intense heat, with Jamui and Nawada recording 43.2°C each, followed by Gaya (43°C), Bhojpur (42.7°C), Dehri and Banka (42.6°C each), Khagaria (42.5°C), Patna (42.2°C), and Madhubani (42°C).

Patna schools have revised timings in effect since April 20th. This applies to all schools, both government and private, for students up to class 10. The new schedule requires schools to start at 6:30 AM and finish by 11:30 AM. The change was implemented by an order from Patna’s district magistrate, Shirsat Kapil Ashok. It’s important to note that this revision only affects classes up to 10th. Class 11 and 12 students will continue with their regular schedule.
“… I, under Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, do hereby prohibit the academic activities for all the Classes (up to 10th class) of Private and Government Schools (including Pre-schools, Anganwadi Centres) of the District from 11.30 am to 4 pm. The school authorities are hereby directed to reschedule their timings of academic activities in conformity of the order… and it will remain effective till April 30,” an official notification said as stated by PTI.
