The Conservative Party has appointed two new deputy chairs following a latest round of ministerial resignations that forced Rishi Sunak into a mini-reshuffle on Tuesday.
Stoke-on-Trent North MP Jonathan Gullis said he was “honoured” and “ready to take the fight” to Labour after being named a Tory deputy chair, with Guildford MP Angela Richardson the other appointment to that role by the Prime Minister after Lee Anderson defected to Reform UK.
It comes after Robert Halfon unexpectedly quit as skills, apprenticeships and higher education minister, being replaced by Thornbury and Yate MP Luke Hall, while former Foreign Office minister Leo Docherty will take over from James Heappey as Armed Forces minister after the latter followed through on his stated intention to step down ahead of exiting Parliament at the next general election.
