The Response Has Been Overwhelming, Like Whoa

Nava Mau has been seeing the positive response to Baby Reindeer and is reacting to it.

The star of the Netflix limited series who plays Teri, a trans woman Richard Gadd’s Donny meets on a dating site, shared a post on social media following the “overwhelming” reactions to the drama.

Baby Reindeer has been out for one week, and the response has been overwhelming. Like whoa,” Mau shared on Instagram. “When I first read the script a couple years ago, I saw myself in Teri. I also saw myself in every single character. Richard’s writing invites us to embrace honesty—true, ground-shaking, walls-crumbling honesty. And the truth is that we’re all human after all.”

She continued, “I hope that every single person who worked on this feels as proud as I am. I’m so lucky that Teri belonged to me for just a little while. Now, this story belongs to the world, and it’s beautiful to see what you all are doing with it.”

Mau ended the post showing her gratitude to series creator and star Richard Gadd, adding, “Thank you Richard for changing my life. WE’RE NUMBER 1 ON NETFLIX!!!”

Martha Plimpton replied to the post, saying, “This is just so so so so good.”

The show has generated so much buzz that some fans are trying to uncover who the real-life people who inspired the characters were, which has led some viewers to falsely accuse people.

“People I love, have worked with, and admire (including Sean Foley) are unfairly getting caught up in speculation,” Gadd posted on Instagram Stories. “Please don’t speculate on who any of the real life people could be. That’s not the point of our show.”
