PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Medical Association has praised the Health Ministry and Higher Education Ministry for deciding to work together to resolve the parallel pathway issue.

“Both ministries have shown exemplary leadership in addressing the matter with constructive dialogue.

“Indeed this spirit of collaboration among all parties concerned with regards to the issue is the way forward,” said MMA president Dr Azizan Abdul Aziz in a statement on Saturday (April 20).

She said it is time for all parties to unite and work together towards the shared goal of addressing the acute shortages of medical specialists in the country and achieving the national target of 28,000 specialists by 2030.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir on Saturday said the parallel pathway programme would be jointly addressed by his ministry and the Health Ministry.
