UGC NET June 2024 Application Form: The registration process for the UGC NET June 2024 session is expected to begin sometime next week. Sharing a post on X, University Grants Commission chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar wrote,” NTA is working on launching the NET application process for June 2024 session sometime next week.” Additionally, the Commission has decided that the National Eligibility Test (NET) scores can be used for PhD admissions. This will be applicable starting from the academic session 2024-25.

UGC NET scores can be used for PhD admissions from 2024-25 session

Many universities conduct their entrance tests for admission to their Ph.D. programmes requiring the students to write multiple Ph.D. entrance tests. To help the students with one national entrance test for Ph.D. admissions as a part of implementing the National Education Policy 2020, the UGC constituted an expert committee to review the provisions of the National Eligibility Test (NET).

“Based on the expert committee’s recommendations, in its 578th Meeting held on 13 March, 2024, the UGC has decided that from the academic session 2024-25, the NET Score can be used for admission to Ph.D. programmes in place of entrance tests conducted by the different universities/HEIs,” the Commission in an official notice said. One can check the detailed notice at https://www.ugc.gov.in/.

From June 2024 onwards, the NET candidates will be declared eligible in three categories:

  1. Category-1: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor
  2. Catcgory-2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
  3. Category-3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.

“The PhD admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva voce,” UGC in an official notice said. The notification and bulletin of information for the NET June 2024 will be issued by the National Testing Agency shortly at https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/.

The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGCNET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research
Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will
conduct UGC – NET December 2023 for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ in
83 subjects in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Aspirants can fill up the NTA UGC NET application form 2024 at nta.ac.in or https://ugcnet.nta.ac.in/. This year, the UGC NET Session-I will be held between June 10 to June 21, 2024. The results of all CBT Examinations will be announced within three weeks of the conclusion of the examination.
