Considering the intense cold, the winter vacation for students in Classes 1 to 8 in Jaipur and Sikar districts of Rajasthan has been prolonged until January 13. In Jaipur, January 14 falling on a Sunday and January 15 being a holiday for Makar Sankranti, schools will recommence on January 16.Conversely, in Sikar, schools are scheduled to reopen on January 15. Jaipur has experienced temperatures dipping below 5 degrees Celsius.
Last Thursday, the district administration prolonged the winter break for students in Classes 1 to 8 by an additional eight days. Jaipur District Collector Prakash Chandra Rajpurohit issued an order, stating that the weather is expected to fluctuate continuously for the upcoming week, reports news agency IANS.
Considering the shifting weather patterns, the winter break now stretches until January 13. However, the previously planned exams within this period will proceed as scheduled. Schools that fail to adhere to these government regulations will face severe consequences.

Intense cold persists in various regions of Rajasthan, encompassing Bikaner, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Sikar, and Phalodi. According to the Meteorological office, Sikar experienced a night temperature of 3.0 degrees Celsius, while Sirohi recorded 3.9 degrees.
In Bikaner and Fatehpur, the temperature stood at 4.2 degrees Celsius each, 4.4 degrees in Phalodi, 5.6 degrees in Pilani, 5.7 degrees in Alwar, and 5.2 degrees in Karauli, as reported by the weather office.
Jaipur marked a minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius. Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts also witnessed a decline in the maximum temperature to around 11 degrees, according to the Meteorological office.
The weather remained dry in the past 24 hours, with dense to very dense fog observed in many areas. Eastern Rajasthan is currently under the grip of a cold wave, as indicated by a Meteorological bulletin.

• In Punjab, schools have adjusted their timings to operate from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM starting from January 1 and continuing until January 14, 2024.
• Similarly, Lucknow has altered its school timings to begin at 10:00 AM.
• Schools in Uttar Pradesh will remain shut until January 14 due to the prevailing cold wave.
