‘Under The Bridge’ Stars Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone Tease The “Spicy” Relationship Between Their Characters After Episode 3 Kiss

[

Under the Bridge is an intense dramas based on a true crime, but there’s always room for romance! Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone‘s characters share a passionate kiss in this week’s episode of the new Hulu series.

The show is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s best-selling book of the same name and explores the real-life murder of Canadian teen Reena Virk.

Gladstone plays Cam Bentland, a police officer who takes an interest in Reena’s murder after her colleagues dismiss the teen’s disappearance as a runaway case.

Cam’s relationship with Keough’s Rebecca — a fictionalized version of the book author — is complicated as they had a falling out when they were younger after the tragic death of Rebecca’s brother Gabe.

The two are brought together by the murder case when Rebecca gets information from one of the suspects after launching an investigation of her own.

Gladstone and Keough’s sexual chemistry in the series is off the charts and has left viewers welcoming their enemies-to-lovers relationship.

In Episode 3, “Blood Oath,” Cam finds Rebecca waiting outside her apartment with the news that she knows who killed Reena. The police officer dismisses Rebecca’s findings and tells her that her suspect has an alibi. Cam further rejects Rebecca’s help, telling her, “I want you to stay the fuck out of this.” Rebecca refuses Cam’s wishes and says it’s her right as a journalist.

“Why are you doing this to me? You’re the one who wanted the fuck out of my life,” Cam argues before stressing the severity of the ongoing investigation to Rebecca.

The two end on tense terms when Rebecca storms out, but they later see each other again at a memorial for Reena. Cam approaches Rebecca and says, “I never asked you, are you doing alright with all of this?” The writer sighs and halfheartedly shrugs in response. Cam replies, “Maybe we owe each other a talk,” and invites Rebecca to get a drink.

At the bar, the two flirt through an awkward conversation that touches upon Gabe’s death and Rebecca’s subsequent exit. “I know we haven’t had a chance to talk properly, but I wanted you to know I’m sorry about leaving suddenly and losing touch,” Rebecca tells Cam. The officer corrects her: “You didn’t lose touch, you fell off the face of the earth.”

Rebecca expresses that she felt guilty that Cam had to make sacrifices to care for her after Gabe died, but Cam says that wasn’t true.

As the evening goes on, the two share a dance at the dimly lit bar and Cam stalks off to the bathroom after noticing lingering looks from other bargoers. Rebecca follows her and they share a kiss while pressed against the bathroom sink. The moment intensifies and sounds of moans and clinking belt buckles fill the air, but then Cam pulls away and apologizes.

The two gaze into each other’s eyes for a few seconds before Cam pulls Rebecca back in.

While chatting with Gladstone and Keough before the show’s premiere, Decider asked about the relationship between their two characters and their “big reveal” in Episode 3. The two actors were reluctant to navigate into spoiler territory but did tease “spicy” times ahead.

Keough jokingly used the word “dysfunction” to describe Cam and Rebecca’s relationship after being asked how they function together. “I don’t to give any spoiler alerts!”

Gladstone added, “I think in the nature of what our relationship ends up being, you’re able to have a very charged way of dramatizing this conversation of what we both represent in all of this in a way that, if you didn’t have this little added element, would just be a sheerly combative relationship, rather than a surprising partnership that develops. It’s the right kind of spicy.”

As Episode 3 proves, Rebecca and Cam have an exciting relationship that extends far behind work grounds. Bring on the spicy!
